• Send thank you letters to your representatives. A sample thank you letter is posted above.
• Attend or schedule meetings with your elected officials during recess periods when they are back home. It’s a great way to update members on the issues discussed when in Washington and to keep your relationship strong.
• Start letter writing and email alert campaigns and host online petitions on issues of concern to your community (locally and nationally).
• Respond to action alerts sent by UJC Washington.
• Log on to UJC’s website and frequent the Social Action/Advocacy and UJC Washington pages.
• Plan a local lobby day, or join your Government Affairs/Community Relations Council lobby day, in your state. Head to your state capitol and meet with local legislators on issues of concern to your community. Recruit folks who went to Washington 15.
